Enriching Teaching
Learning objects are also useful to instructors. For example, learning objects:
- Provide a new way to draw on the creativity and expertise of colleagues (faculty comment)
- Promote efficiencies in teaching common facts and in understanding, integrating and applying complex concepts (faculty comment)
- Can be used in classroom or online lectures and discussions, or to promote independent learning

- Can be sequenced and aggregated to customize learning
- Can be reordered and reused across courses and educational levels
- Promote the importance of context to meaning
- Go beyond acquiring information to supporting inquiry and constructing meaning (faculty comment)
- Some learning objects have a component for assessing learning
- Provide a learner-centered way to promote self-directed exploration, self reflection, self discovery and application of theory to professional practice
